Frequently Asked Questions

Why go?

We believe that empathy and inclusion matter to everyone, and that these issues should be addressed early on, and continuously throughout the education of an individual.

Deaf Awareness Workshop is the only experience of its kind in London. Nowhere else can you and your students build empathy and understanding through the immersive, experiential, and—most importantly—collaborative learning that we offer. It cannot be replicated in the classroom.

What will students learn and do?

With BSL set to become part of the national curriculum in 2025, this 3-hour workshop is the perfect way to get ahead and prepare your students. It offers a hands-on and interactive experience where students will:

• Learn basic sign language, including useful everyday words and phrases.

• Engage with Deaf individuals, gaining a deeper understanding of Deaf culture and communication.

• Foster empathy and inclusion, developing a sense of respect and awareness for the Deaf community and the importance of accessibility.

This experience will not only introduce students to vital skills but will also align with upcoming curriculum changes, helping to prepare them for future learning.

How many days a week do you hold workshops?

What does the chaperone need to do?

As a chaperone, you are responsible for helping your students get the most out of this very unique learning experience. To keep order, you need to stay with your assigned group of students throughout your visit. Please supervise your students in the retail area as well. We know that this is a fascinating experience, but please remember that your top priority is to monitor your students and keep them focused so they will enjoy the experience safely.

If there is anything we should know about your group, please do communicate with us openly. We are here to make your experience the best it can possibly be.
